A few years ago, when I was living in Istanbul, I was lucky enough to visit South-East Anatolia.
I’ve got to be honest. It blew me away. This corner of Turkey, between the Tigris and the Euphrates, is the cradle of countless civilisations.
It’s not simply that you’ll find numerous civilisations. Rather, you will find many civilisations that you’ve never heard of. Like the Commagenes, who built the amazing statues at Mount Nemrut, pictured above.
