I have several book talks planned in 2025. Next up are three talks in Scotland. More details should appear on this page as events firm up.
27-29 January: Book talks in Scotland
My last visit to Scotland was to Kirk Yetholm, after finishing the Pennine Way
Three universities in Scotland – St Andrew’s, Edinburgh and Strathclyde – have generously invited me to speak. Details as follows.
St Andrews
19.00, 27 January, University of St Andrews: “Lessons in Diplomacy: How to survive a crisis, and more”. I will be happy to sign books and hope to have a few copies with me. This event, organised by the St Andrews Foreign Affairs Society, will take place in School III, St Salvators Quad and is open to anyone associated with the university.
Edinburgh
18.30, 28 January, University of Edinburgh Diplomatic Society. This event will be at 40 George Square, Lecture Theatre B. Both students and members of the public are welcome to book tickets now on Eventbright – there is a small charge of £3 for non-students. Again I’ll be happy to sign books.
Glasgow
15.00, 29 January, Strathclyde University in Glasgow. This event is hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for the students on the MSc Diplomacy and International Security, organised by programme director, Dr Rogelia Pastor-Castro. But it’s open to others – please email Dr Pastor-Castro (rogelia.pastor-castro@strath.ac.uk) if you’re interested in attending. Again, I’ll be happy to sign books at the event.
Future talks
Future talks will include:
19 February, Headstrong Club, Lewes: How to survive a diplomatic crisis, and other lessons.
19.30 14 May, The Highgate Society, 10A South Grove, N6: Title of talk to be agreed.
What to do next
If you are in or near St Andrews, Edinburgh or Glasgow in late January, I’d be delighted to see you at a book talk. In most cases, you should get in touch with the organisers for more info; but feel free to contact me if that works better.
I hope to keep this page updated as more details are finalised. I’ll also list future speaking engagements. If you would like me to come and talk to an audience, whether at a university, a book group or a corporate event, do get in touch.
