My Istanbul thriller “Palladium” is available for the first time as a good-value paperback, priced at under £10 (US $13.42). There’s also, for the first time, a hardback. A Turkish-language edition is in the works.
Slow publishing: a case study
Back in 2022 I wrote a post called Slow publishing: a case study. I explained how publishing my Istanbul thriller Palladium took ten years (yes, ten years) from start to finish.
The good news was that at the end of that process, in 2022, US publisher Immortal Works published Palladium commercially. They produced a lovely paperback, and an outstanding audiobook.
Unfortunately, the lovely paperback Immortal Works published was expensive outside the US. Sales of my Istanbul thriller in the UK were, to put it politely, rather more modest than I would have hoped. I was delighted to have a commercial publisher pick up my work, but sorry it was so pricey.
My Istanbul thriller: a new paperback
In 2025, Immortal Works had a restructuring. They offered existing authors the option of reacquiring the rights to their works. Result: I am now the proud owner of the rights to Palladium. I have republished the paperback independently. The good news is that because the paperback is published in the same place as it is purchased, the price is substantially lower. Do take a look. Palladium is also available as an e-book.

Palladium as a hardback
In spring 2026 I attended the London Book Fair. It’s a fascinating experience – I recommend it. One message that came across was to make your books available in as many formats as possible. That could include as e-books, audiobooks, paperbacks and hardbacks.
I’d never attempted a hardback fiction book before. But I’m proud of Palladium. I’d just got the rights back. I decided to attempt to publish a paperback, using Amazon.
Publishing a hardback book isn’t entirely straightforward. You need a different cover design. The contents need a slightly different layout. All this requires technical ingenuity or – if you lack advanced design skills – money. But when I saw the new hardback version of my Istanbul thriller I was delighted. It makes a great gift.

A Turkish edition of “Palladium”?
I’m delighted to report that a Turkish edition of Palladium is in the works. This is terrific news. Turkey is a large, vibrant book market. I’m hoping an Istanbul thriller will go down well there. Contact me for information – more news in due course.
